Inductive Bible Study
INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY
Inductive Bible Study is a tried and tested method helping ordinary people
and scholars alike to read and study the Bible. It is where we use the Bible
as our primary source - in other words, we use it first before anything else.
You're in good company when you study inductively.
William Tyndale used it in translating the first Bible to be printed
in English in the 16th Century.
HOW DOES INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY WORK?
There are essentially 3 parts to Inductive Bible Study.
- Observation of the Bible is foundational, it's where we learn how to really
see what is written
- Interpretation of scripture in context - this is where we get to understand
what the other said
- Application of this truth to our lives - this is where you consciously choose
to live out what you learn, this is the goal and purpose of Inductive Bible

WHAT INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY HAS MEANT TO OTHERS...
"Thanks to the attractiveness of the inductive method, I now have
members of my congregation spending many hours each week in
enthusistic personal and group Bible study. I thoroughly recommend
inductive Bible study and Precept’s excellent range of study materials." - Lindsay Allen - Pastor
"Precept was the key that unlocked God’s word to me" - Liz (Portrush)
"Precept has opened my eyes to an entire new form of Bible study. I have learned new truths in every lesson
through the challenging, detailed questions the homework’s ask and have seen the Bible in a new light... I no
longer see the Bible as an old fashioned book filled with irrelevant laws and incomprehensible prophecies, but
rather as a living truth, a vital life guide – the voice of God." - Lauren (Lauren, a young Transform NI student)
